The cursed obsidian whip is probably more suited for endgame dungeons where there are fewer phantoms left to compete with.

This is a blessing that is more useful the later you are in a run. Guardians on their own aren't particularly challenging to deal with, but when you have to dodge both them and the temple's hazards, they can be a nuisance.
It's got lots of dungeons to explore, tons of items to equip, and some pretty cool boss fights. It missed a good opportunity by not letting you progress through the story in co-op mode, but it's still a fun Phantom Abyss Game single-player experience.
